Security Training Pathways

We at SDS Training and Security have a highly trained team of professionals that specialise in the provision of security training. You as our valued client can tap into this knowledge and have our security instructors help and advise with a personally prepared security package designed to suit you. Our team of professionals enables us the ability to provide a complete back up service with future training and further courses to improve your job seeking prospects. A course with us in Security Operations Certificate II will enable you to have the entry level skills to enter the security workforce in security guarding, crowd control and many other exciting fields. Once you have completed your Certificate II you may want to advance on to a Certificate III in Security Operations or Certificate III in Firearms. 

Students from previous classes have gone on to become managers, cash in transit officers, static officers, training instructors and even affiliates in our training programs. SDS Training and Security prides itself on the level of training and personal attention given to all students and encourages students to advance themselves to higher and more rewarding prospects. As a recognised Indigenous training company we invite all Indigenous students to complete our courses and go on to become officers within our company. To obtain the security officer unarmed license you must have first completed an approved training course. Certificate II in Security Operations will enable you to apply for this license. The units required to be completed for this course are:

• CPPSEC2001A - Communicate effectively in the security industry
• CPPSEC2002A - Follow workplace safety procedures in the security industry
• CPPSEC2003A - Work effectively in the security industry
• CPPSEC2004A - Respond to security risk situation
• CPPSEC2005A - Work as part of a security team
• CPPSEC2006A - Provide security services to clients
• CPPSEC2011A - Control access to and exit from premises
• CPPSEC2012A - Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour
• CPPSEC2014A - Operate basic security equipment
• CPPSEC2015A - Patrol premises
• CPPSEC2017A - Protect self and others using basic defence tactics
• HLTFA301B - Apply first aid

In addition to this, to obtain the crowd controller and bodyguard license you must also complete an additional five units from Certificate III in Security Operations. The additional units required to be completed for this course are:

• CPPSEC3002A - Manage Conflict Through Negotiation
• CPPSEC3003A - Determine Response to Security Risk Situation
• CPPSEC3007A - Maintain Security of Environment
• CPPSEC3013A - Control Persons Using Empty Hand Techniques

All units listed above are included in our Security Guard / Crowd Controller course.
