Cash in Transit Security Officer

Cash transit security officer

A cash transit security officer carries cash, bullion, jewellery or valuables. Officers who carry a weapon while working must also apply to the Queensland Police Service for the appropriate weapons licence.

Apply for a licence

To apply, you must:

• meet the eligibility criteria
• complete the training requirements and attach proof of qualifications
• complete the Security Providers Form 1-1 - Application for a security provider class 1 individual licence
• provide originals or certified copies of your birth certificate, birth extract, passport, Australian citizenship certificate or drivers licence
• pay the appropriate licence fee (fees are listed on the application form)
• pay the criminal history check fee
• pay the fingerprinting fee
• lodge the application (lodgement details are listed on the application form).

Fingerprinting

All security providers must be fingerprinted by the Queensland Police Service. After you´ve lodged your application, you will receive a letter from the Office of Fair Trading that details the process for having your fingerprints taken.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a licence, you must:

• be 18 years or older
• have no recorded conviction of a disqualifying offence within the previous 10 years
• have no unrecorded finding of guilt of a disqualifying offence in the previous five years
• not be considered a risk to public safety
• have successfully completed the training.

 
Training requirements for a new licence

To qualify for an unrestricted cash transit security officer licence, you must successfully complete the following units of competency from the National Asset Security Training Package.

• CPPSEC2003B Work effectively in the security industry
• CPPSEC2004A Respond to security risk situation
• CPPSEC2005A Work as part of a security team
• CPPSEC2006A Provide security services to clients
• CPPSEC2015A Patrol premises
• CPPSEC3002A Manage conflict through negotiation
• CPPSEC3007A Maintain security of environment
• CPPSEC3013A Control persons using empty hand techniques
• TDTD4198A Undertake cash-in-transit loading and unloading in an unsecured environment
• TDT0898B Implement cash-in-transit security procedures
• TDT0998B Test and inspect cash-in-transit security equipment
• HLTFA301B Apply first aid
